Case study:
The Camfil Experience
Background
Camfil, a Swedish Multinational, approached Mersus to create The Camfil Experience, a digital twin of Camfil’s products. Due to the size of Camfil’s filtration systems, hands-on demonstrations were impractical, and due to complexity, print material could be difficult to follow. Camfil was looking for a digital transformation solution that would:
• Reduce the expense of printed material
• Demonstrate at trade shows
• Enhance the outcome of sales pitches
VR technology is an enabler for us to demonstrate to customers. How it made this complex topic into something tangible, where you could see it, I think mind blowing is the word.

Approach
The project took place over the course of 15 weeks, and production was split into three stages
Application Design
This stage comprised of taking Camfil’s brief, and transforming it into a narrative. This document told the story of how the application would work, including all voiceover and text that would be needed, and detailed exactly what the user could, and would, do. A design document was created, made up of concept art, UI design and storyboards for approval
Development
3D assets and environments were created by the team to represent Camfil’s different products, virtually. All the assets were optimised to take best advantage of mobile VR headsets’ capabilities
Delivery
This was the final stage, the delivery of the finished application to Camfil. Any remaining bugs were dealt with and user acceptance testing was completed and passed. The application was deployed across a fleet of Oculus Go headsets, used by Camfil’s sales teams across the world.
